Three generations
Here I am with my mother Ellen in 1942 - I'm wearing my WAFF uniform.
And then you can see me with my daughter Leslie. We graduated with Arts degrees from the University of New England in New South Wales. We both continued our studies - she received a Graduate Diploma in Primary Teaching Methods and I was granted a Graduate Diploma in Religious Education.

The Lighthouse Keeper
From 1922 to 1925 my father, Charles Pollington was one of the two lighthouse keepers at Double Island Point, off the Queensland coast. Double Island Point is off Fraser Island.
Aged two, I climbed up the spiral staircase outside the lighthouse and a crowd collected underneath with a blanket to catch me while my mother was stood crying. I was throwing my bonnet, shoes and socks through the railings. Father crept up behind me and grabbed me before I could squeeze through the railings. He said that these were the worst moments of his life - including his time in World War One.
